The VR-MUX 2 multiplexer is
for use with the CAM 3000C camera. The VR-MUX2 comes complete with power,
drivers, and chroma genlock to multiplex two SONY XC - 999 (or equivalent)
color video cameras. The VR-MUX2 / SONY combination (CAM-3000C) has
proven ideal for such applications as stereo microscopy, telerobotics,
and hyperstereo where cameras must have large separations for long-distance
stereo imaging.
The VR-MUX2 accepts the 12-pin inputs from two SONY XC - 999s,
automatically powering and genlocking the cameras. If left and right
stereo images are reversed (pseudo-stereo), just flip the A/B switch.
To view the output from either camera, simply switch from 3D to 2D
and select the active camera with the A/B switch. Because the SMI
format contains all stereo information in a single frame of NTSC
composite or S-Video output, multiplexed images never go out of
alignment during real-time play or during videotape playback.
